BECOMING AN INFLUENCE

To be an influence, you have to be first influenced. I'm talking about a positive influence now. Influencers are simply individuals who their company, materials (writings, books, songs, teachings, etc) and anything that comes from them impact others positively, one way or another. They have the ability to change perspectives/beliefs, thoughts and decisions. Their impacts bring illumination, solution to a problem, causes a mind shift or a better and healthier lifestyle. I saw something that amazed me as regards influence. Peter and John stood before the Jewish high court and spoke before them which left the Sanhedrin astonished. What amazed them wasn't their 'speech' but what they discovered. "And when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and perceived they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled." (Acts 4:13) The Sanhedrin saw two things in Peter and John —  Confidence and boldness in ordinary people (untrained and uneducated). The San...

SEASONED SPEECH

Has someone ever said something to you that's so burdensome and heart wrecking to hear, or that broke your spirit? Not that the broken spirit was as a result of words that came as a reproof or rebuke. I mean the speech coming from a stand point of condemnation, criticism, judgement, mockery and stance to demean you. It can be painful. It's more painful when it comes from a loved one or fellow christian associate.  This should never be found in a person's life not to talk of a Christian. In the kingdom of God, we have a structured way of talking and we talk for specific, intentional reasons not just to open our mouths. Unfortunately, all that proceeds out of the mouth of some folks are in form of arrows, bullets, garbages and repulsive contents. I've never seen where such has helped the recipient of those nature of words, rather it either destroys them or pollute their minds. And that's not what my Bible instructs. The apostle Paul wrote about the accepta...

THE WHAT IF'S OF MY HEART

Sometimes, I just sit and ask questions about the way christians live, our preference and pursuit then relate it with our relationship with God and how it should be.  And while thinking about it, I can't help but see the lapses in our Christian walk, the frivolities we chase, how we wile away time and ignore that which matters most in life.  It is utmost foolishness to prioritize what matters less and neglect what actually matters most. I thought of these questions I'm about revealing as I interrogated myself and decided to ask you these questions as well. They aren't asked for you to give direct answers but to self examine yourself and discover what should be priotized in your life.  So, while I ask these questions, check if they resonate with you and pinpoint where you aren't getting it right as to make necessary amendments according to your analysis and discovery. I believe you reading this article is a believer or even a born again Christian. And as one ...

PERSISTENT IN WORKS: What to do when you don't feel like it.

That skeptical feeling (doubt, uncertainties) that invades your mind when you feel like giving up and letting your guard down can be annoying as it puts you at a corner and decreases your productivity. It screams at you by informing your body, soul and spirit that you should give up on whatever work or pursuit of life you're engaged with especially when there's no notable progress. You know that feeling, right?  Everybody has what he/she wants out of life and many chase after it, but we can't outsmart life on this regard of feeling down stricken, discouraged and wearied on our journey through life. I've been there so many times, recently even. But thanks to my recent experience, I've learnt something very crucial that will keep me going whenever I feel stuck or feel like giving up. And that's what I'll be unveiling in today's article. You'll learn what to do whenever you feel like throwing in the towel. There's an approach you can app...

CAN GOD BE LATE? (Revised edition)

"Has God forsaken me, is it that God doesn't care? I've been praying yet nothing is happening." "He even promised me, is it that He doesn't fulfill His promises or too slow to fulfill it?" These are the many questions people ask their hearts even verbally when things goes haywire in their lives especially after praying and asking God for a solution. Looking at a story in the book of John 11. It reveals a scenerio that best explains today's article. It's the story of Lazarus. Lazarus was very sick. The message reached Jesus, and being informed about it, He said the sickness wouldn't end in death. But eventually, Lazarus died. Now the question is, did Jesus lie? That's the question people ask and that's the stage they lose all hope. Humanly speaking, you'd give up hope but that's not the end because He never lies. The fact is, Jesus said something about the situation but yet it happened. God has probably made promise...

THE HIGHLY ESTEEMED

Do you want to be respected? Do you desire to attract admiration from others? Do you want to be presented as a person worth emulating and a quintessential role model? How about people taking you seriously?  People can only see you that way when you present yourself in that fashion. There are certain codes of conduct you must imbibe in your daily lifestyle to be accorded respect, admiration and honor from others. Amongst the many, I'll list only but a few which are regarded as the most important. CHARACTER Character has to do with putting up ethical and distinguishing qualities, traits or characteristics. It is about the way a person thinks, feels and behaves. Your character is your personality which shows how reliable and honest you are. If you truly desire to be esteemed highly in whatever sphere or area of specialty, you have to put on exceptional qualities. You have to make people believe and trust you by portraying a good personality. You don't expect to attract...

CRUSH IS NOT LOVE

Yeah! It's February.  A month that's noted in history (beginning from the 15th century) as the month of love, not necessarily for lovers and spouses alone but for fostering love for families, friends, and even yourself. Precisely, 14th February was chosen as the day for the celebration of love. So, in the spirit of the valentine season, I decided to write on this subject that many still find confusing and have been preyed to as a result of ignorance. My major motive of writing this is to educate young folks— to be precise— on their emotions (concerning love and crush) and to learn their differences. I'll be teaching this with a biblical story and other references as proof to back up my claims. Stay with me. You'll enjoy the ride. There's an interesting story that grabbed my attention. It looked funny to me but looking at it from a different stand point, it contains requisite lessons every young person should learn as reagrds to emotions. A man named Amno...

IN THE COMPETITION OF LIFE, IT IS YOU VS WHO?

It's true that life is like a competition. And we all are like athletes on the track of life running toward our desired destination where we can get our rewards, just as an athlete run on his track in other to win the race.  He runs with the mindset of winning against his fellow athlete; winning to get his reward and to become the pronounced winner above his fellow competitors. There's no human that's without the enthusiasm to be at the top of his game. We all want to win. But here's the problem, We relate the competition of the Olympics with that of life; runnning the race of life with the mindset of winning against anyone that's ahead or behind us. This can be in the business world, academic sector, marital status, etc. We do this especially when we feel threatened and pressured by the success, skills, potentials, accomplishments of others trying to measure up ours with theirs. If you're this person, I tell you, that is an unhealthy journey you...

THOUGH YOU MAY WILL...

I learnt something very new this week which I'll be sharing here regarding my last week's blog. Be patient enough to read through. You'll be glad you did. It was earlier this week I realized that deliberate work is necessary in whatever you're doing to acquire results but it is totally incomplete without a paramount ingredient we should learn about. Reading through the words of  DELIBERATE WORK (last week's article), I discovered that it's passing across an incomplete message. So, what actually is missing? THE HAND/HELP OF GOD There are determined people with discipline, intelligence, strength and all littered everywhere but yet not all of them acquired all they've envisioned for themselves (or others) nor did it work out as planned for them. Why? Because they're failing to acknowledge a supernatural help they need. I just pity folks who downplay the essence of Christ in their lives or neglects Him altogether. It's not just because He gi...
