THE HIGHLY ESTEEMED

Do you want to be respected? Do you desire to attract admiration from others? Do you want to be presented as a person worth emulating and a quintessential role model? How about people taking you seriously?

People can only see you that way when you present yourself in that fashion.

There are certain codes of conduct you must imbibe in your daily lifestyle to be accorded respect, admiration and honor from others.

Amongst the many, I'll list only but a few which are regarded as the most important.

CHARACTER

Character has to do with putting up ethical and distinguishing qualities, traits or characteristics. It is about the way a person thinks, feels and behaves. Your character is your personality which shows how reliable and honest you are.

If you truly desire to be esteemed highly in whatever sphere or area of specialty, you have to put on exceptional qualities. You have to make people believe and trust you by portraying a good personality.

You don't expect to attract attention positively when you're arrogant, rude, without manners, etc. Nobody likes a person with arrogance and an ill character. Even if you're rich, have fame or power, without character, you can't be esteemed highly or respected. People may respect, hail and praise you in your presence cause of your money but they'll bad mouth you and regard you as nothing behind your back and in their hearts. Your character speaks volume for you even in your absence.

And same goes with

INTEGRITY

Integrity is the uncompromising adherence to strict morals and ethical principles. I underlined the word 'uncompromising' because it's important to note that word. Integrity should be continuous and not painted with corruption whatsoever.

It is the truthfulness and honesty or accuracy of one's action. A person of integrity is one who shows himself/herself to be dependable, loyal, honest, respectable and can pass good judgement.

This quality in you will exempt you from the masses that are corrupt, self seeking, dishonest, etc.

Can you win people's trust and admiration without this quality? You have little chances for that.

Are you the type that makes a promise and then breaks it?

Are you the kind that finds telling lies very easy and common?

Do you like to cheat other people for your own gain?

Or you like manipulating things, people and circumstances to your favour?

These lifestyle will never take you anywhere.

You might say, "who cares, to hell with people. I'll leave my life the way I want it."

Yes, you are right about the fact that you can live your life as you wish but you have to choose to live it right for your own sake. And without people, you can't go very far in life. You need profitable relationships to get to the zenith faster. A tree can never make a forest.

The impacts and contributions of others are highly needed in the path of life. So, you'll always need people, whether you like it or not. And that is why character and integrity are crucial in this journey. It affords you what money and big connections can. One recommendation from someone who trust you and loves you for your good qualities can change your life. So, do not neglect this.

Work on yourself if you possess an unpleasant attitude towards other people. You can't earn their trust and respect that way.

The next and most important one is

THE FEAR OF GOD

Yeah, we live in a corrupt world but there are still CEO's, managing directors, employers, head of departments that wants people who has the fear of God. They know those with the fear of God will do what is right irrespective of how or what others do.

The fear of God instills in you the reverence, respect and awe of God, His word and kingdom. The fear of God guide your decisions in alignment with God's word which restricts you from unhealthy, corrupt or immoral living.

According to scriptures, the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. (Proverbs 1:7). In other words, true wisdom isn't far fetched from you when you possess the fear of God.

So, it doesn't just bring you admiration, it also attracts wisdom and wise men (those of the same calibre) to you.

Acts 5:13 reveals that the early church were highly esteemed by the people (even the unbelievers) because they possessed the fear of God, power of God, boldness, authority and holiness.

They (the unbelievers) dared not to join the church but still esteemed them highly.

"Yet none of the rest dared join them, but the people esteemed them highly" ( Proverbs 5:13).

People love genuineness, people love light. Why? That's because the world is a dark place. So, when they see something different and pleasant from the one they've always known, they embrace and love it.

That's why you must shine the light.

And that light shines through good works. Light is illuminated by displaying what's totally opposite of wickedness and corruption in the world we live in. (Mathew 5:16); character, integrity, holiness, the fear of God, the power of God. It brings glory to God.

Refuse to be like the others. Take your stand to stand out in your deeds, conduct and speech. Just because everyone is doing it, doesn't make it right.

I pray that the Holy spirit teaches and helps us live examplary lives, in Jesus name, Amen.

Hope this blessed you.

Stay blessed.

MY DEADLY FRIEND

I had this friend I never knew was a foe till I understood its deadly traits.   The worst part?? I feed it myself unknowingly. Imagine feeding what kills you slowly. No, it's not an external being or thing but comes from within.  And no, it's not personal to me but a generic problem amongst millions of people out there. Comparison! Yes, comparison! It shows itself through three different forms :  Emotions , c ommunication   and   Identity . You would agree with me that these forms can also be components that constitute friendship. This is to elaborate how comparison poses as a friend while stating its significant harm. THE EMOTIONS INVOLVED  Some people think of comparison as a tool for growth. I mean, if other people's success and progress can keep you awake and thinking all the time, then you would want to do better. That's what you think, right?  Comparison would surely give you a lot of motivational lines like: "If my friend can do this, i can do i...

MY LITTLE THOUGHTS!!!

I read something that kept me in thoughts for some time now and I saw a new light in it. "Therefore i say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat and what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on..." (Matthew 6:25) These are the questions i asked myself after reading it: • "Is the above scripture saying i should not bother about my life or ensure i make something out of my life?" • "Does it mean i should just allow life happen to me and accept whatever it brings to my table (my life)"? I thought it that way because that verse is literally saying,  "you know what, just relax. God got you. You don't have to work or stress yourself. He'll take care of you as He does to the birds of the air and lilies of the field. (Vs 26 & 28)." But same Bible says we should work. The word of God critically downplays laziness and idleness. "For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: T...

NOT JUST THE REGULAR CHRISTIAN

"I'm a very good Christian...a born again Christian at that." "I'm not just a regular Christian because I always go to church and partake in Christian activities." ...and you think that's enough reason to tag you a Christian beyond the ordinary? Please, before thinking you don't fall under the category of a regular Christian, I'd love you to read this article to the end with understanding. In many nations of the world, especially my resident country, Nigeria, many families and individuals acknowledge and believes in Christ which makes them Christians in a literal sense. It may be because it's a "religion" passed down as a family heritage or an influence from family members.  It may be because of christain social influences and networks. It can be exposure to christianity through education or basically for selfish motives (what they can benefit from God). Not all Christians are TRULY Christians in its true context. We ind...
