PERSISTENT IN WORKS: What to do when you don't feel like it.

That skeptical feeling (doubt, uncertainties) that invades your mind when you feel like giving up and letting your guard down can be annoying as it puts you at a corner and decreases your productivity.

It screams at you by informing your body, soul and spirit that you should give up on whatever work or pursuit of life you're engaged with especially when there's no notable progress. You know that feeling, right?

Everybody has what he/she wants out of life and many chase after it, but we can't outsmart life on this regard of feeling down stricken, discouraged and wearied on our journey through life.

I've been there so many times, recently even. But thanks to my recent experience, I've learnt something very crucial that will keep me going whenever I feel stuck or feel like giving up. And that's what I'll be unveiling in today's article.

You'll learn what to do whenever you feel like throwing in the towel. There's an approach you can apply to your life at the weakening phase of life.

Here are a few outlined measures.

WHEN YOU DON'T FEEL LIKE IT; Do it still.

Do it still even when you don't feel like it.
Business may not be working out well as before.
It may seem you aren't making progress with the skill you acquired or your place of work.
That project on your hands might look frightening to complete.
Or maybe your life and family isn't progressing generally, PERSIST STILL.

Keep doing the things that promotes progress in that endeavor or specialty of yours.

Even if it's like what you're doing doesn't make any sense to you, just do something. Little drops make the ocean as they say. And rome wasn't built in a day, even in all seasons (winter, summer). Blocks were consistently added.

Keep laying the blocks. Sometimes, you just have to do it in faith and with lots of courage but trust me, you're making humongous progress which you aren't aware of.

WHEN YOU DON'T FEEL LIKE IT; Go to your accountability partner.

If you don't have one, it's time you get one. This person can be a close relative (sister, father, mother, etc), a friend, a mentor (higher ups in your field), any person at all, so long he/she fits in that position.

The essence of this is to have a go-to person whenever you're down and need encouragements or soul lifting words. No matter how strong willed you are about your objectives, you'll always need that one tap on the shoulder or soothing words to the soul and it's people that fills that gap.

If he/she does the job well, you'll leave that person fired up and edified.

WHEN YOU DON'T FEEL LIKE IT; Throw away guilt and self pity.

Sometimes, what causes us to be wearied and discouraged is guilt of our past failures and mistakes. Most times, it's as a result of our inabilities (what we feel we're supposed to do but unable to do them). And discouragement comes because we see them a lot more than our strengths.

The freedom lies in looking at your strengths (what you can do and what you've achieved so far). If you continue to look at the weaknesses, you'll be bound by it. Why?
Because your mind have been programmed to fail only by thinking about it.
But when you build confidence (in God and all He has placed in you), you'd conquer higher grounds.

Throw away self pity.
Stop looking for who will sympathize with you or pity you. I don't think those who became great possess such attitude.

Great men persist despite what they go through. They don't wait for approval, accolades or sympathizers. Their driving force is their "why" for doing what they do and the high ecstasy derived from fulfillment in life.

So, what's your why for that project you're on, your academic journey, your business, skill and career?

What's your why for releasing that song, writing that book, or acquiring that skill?

What's your why for rendering services to God without physical monthly pay?

Let your why stir you up.

WHEN YOU DON'T FEEL LIKE IT; Change or create a conducive environment for yourself.

Mind who and what is around you at this moment of your life. If your environment is ministering negatively to you, leave there for a breath of fresh air.

You can create your environment by going to places that distract you from your worries and may ignite that burning passion or fortitude to move on.

Avoid being lonely at this point else you'll be depressed. You can only stay alone when you want to reflect on your life to observe lapses and make necessary corrections.

The environment can be a social gatherings or simply visiting and observing nature. It improves your mood and stirs your enthusiasm.

All these and more are ways to get by whenever "I don't feel like going on" hits your mind and countenance. Look for ways to make yourself elated and get on with your pursuit and goals of life.

EXTRA TIPS
• Keep speaking to yourself about your future.
• Go back to your life's drawing board and goals.
• Make yourself happy. You can gift yourself or take yourself out like I earlier mention. If finance is an issue, look for something interesting that will cost you very little or nothing at all.

ABOVE ALL, SPEND TIME TO TALK TO JESUS ABOUT IT.

I always say that Jesus is the one reason I'm still sane. I wonder how people who doesn't know Jesus cope with life's problems. I just can't.

His spirit; the Holy spirit encourages and reassures us of our future and all He's willing to do for us. That's what keeps our faith and hope alive.

Please, trust God with your life. That's the best decision you can ever make. Spend time with Him, tell him about your challenge and hear Him speak to you either directly or through the scriptures.

That way, you'll always have a reason to never give up.

I hope this article blessed you?

Have a blessed week ahead.

Shalom!

MY DEADLY FRIEND

I had this friend I never knew was a foe till I understood its deadly traits.   The worst part?? I feed it myself unknowingly. Imagine feeding what kills you slowly. No, it's not an external being or thing but comes from within.  And no, it's not personal to me but a generic problem amongst millions of people out there. Comparison! Yes, comparison! It shows itself through three different forms :  Emotions , c ommunication   and   Identity . You would agree with me that these forms can also be components that constitute friendship. This is to elaborate how comparison poses as a friend while stating its significant harm. THE EMOTIONS INVOLVED  Some people think of comparison as a tool for growth. I mean, if other people's success and progress can keep you awake and thinking all the time, then you would want to do better. That's what you think, right?  Comparison would surely give you a lot of motivational lines like: "If my friend can do this, i can do i...

WHEN PURPOSE DOESN'T LOOK POPULAR

One of the basic need of humans is to be seen. The need to be wanted, accepted and approved by others. And in our world today, where visibility and popularity often connotes value, walking in the light of purpose can feel lonely and somewhat insignificant. It seems like everyone is moving faster, shining brighter, and getting noticed.  On the other hand, you who seek to live in obedience to God's instruction per time  don't draw attention. Your purpose looks slow, hidden, or even strange to others. What happens then? The truth is, God’s purpose for your life won’t always look popular. Sometimes, He calls you to build when no one else understands what you’re building. He calls you to walk a path that doesn’t make sense to the crowd. That's not really comforting, right? But understand that there's a difference between living for purpose and living for popularity. Purpose is about fulfilling God’s assignment for your life. It’s about obedience, faith, and surrender. Wheth...

HOW TO BUILD CONFIDENCE WITHOUT LOSING HUMILITY

You know, I truly love the virtue called humility and sincerely admire humble people. But you see folks that are extremely humble yet unapologetically confident — this, I can never resist. I could't help but wonder how they strike the balance until recently. You can see humility yet confidence is an aura they exude. I had to research on it and I discovered the "how-to" behind this amazing twist which I'll be unfolding here.  First off, let's understand this: T here is a thin line between confidence and pride. It takes some level of mastery to avoid breaking that line.  Have you ever tried to be confident but felt like you were being “too much”? Maybe you spoke up during a meeting, posted your small win online, or walked into a room with your head held high, then immediately wondered if you came off as proud. It’s something many struggle with: wanting to believe in themselves without seeming arrogant. Society often makes it worse by mixing up humility with self-dou...

DELIBERATE WORK

Great things happens to the deliberate ones. Those who are intentional about their life and every sector of it. I know you reading this have come to a level of understanding about this key principle of life; You have to prepare for opportunities. You have to be intentional about life to have the results you want. It can't just fall from the sky because of your mere desires. This is 2023, a new year. Many are set to start anew. Many are preparing themselves for success in their lives. And many, even before now, have started working out on their new year plans and resolution. Now, I want you to watch carefully those people, in case you have such one close to you or around you. Observe them and you'll discover that those ones (those that choose to be deliberate in their plans and aspirations) will actually make heads way in their pursuit. You'll see continuous progress in their lives. You'll watch them make advances and speed you never thought of. All these hap...

THE CURRENCY CALLED REPUTATION

"Forget it! I can do anything at all for money". "Being nice and considerate will not put food on my table and take care of my needs". "You need to be wise (that is, to be crafty 😒) to make it in this life."  "Too much "holy holy" will keep you poor". Blah blah blah!  You see people with these mindset?.... They don't last. Let me first counter two dominant mindsets evident in the above statements. First, being nice is never all there is to a good character. Niceness is never enough to afford you a good reputation.  Secondly, reputation is an invisible currency whether you believe it or not. Stay with me... By obvious observation, this is a very impatient generation. The world is rapidly evolving and literally making life faster and easier for us.   There's fast food, fast shopping, fast delivery, even fast dopamine hits from social media. Advancement of technology has made everything easy from the comfort of our homes. Let'...

SOME TOXIC HABITS TO AVOID

You've lived long enough to know that there are things that are good for you and things that are toxic for you. You have a conscience, a brain and mind to sponsor that. In this article, there are a few highlighted habits that are highly toxic for you. But before unveiling it, let me explain the word TOXIC. TOXIC is a word used to describe something that is harmful or damaging. Anything that's toxic is detrimental to you either emotionally, mentally, psychologically or physically. Okay! So, let's get right into it. SOME TOXIC HABITS TO AVOID Self-Criticism Self-criticism is evaluating and judging yourself harshly, thinking you have to be perfect and never make mistakes. It's that negative voice speaking inside of you which magnifies your weaknesses and stirs you to see nothing good about yourself and by so doing, drown you in self criticism. That negative voice only wants you to see YOU as not good enough, a failure, a weak and unskilled person, incapable...i...

HOW POSSIBLE IS PURITY IN A PERVERSE WORLD?

We live in a world where premarital sex, lust, and diverse sexual vices are thrown at us on the face. Sensual pictures, movies and music that promotes and instigates pornography, masturbation, lesbianism, homosexuality, adultery, rape, lust, etc are rampant, virtually everywhere. It takes advance discipline and utmost reverend for God to be able to resist it. When you access the internet, its there. When you read through some magazines, its there. What about the television compiled with various TV channels with different commercials, ads, movies, operas, shows, etc, it is in its abundance.  These days, almost everything we view promotes lust. Even ads; mere ads. Those that value their christian faith and purity can't even watch television in peace. You'll have to keep changing and switching channels to guide your eyes against scenes that defiles the mind. Even the streets are cluttered with immodestly dressed women and men. They are on every sidewalk and every corne...

NAKED BEHIND THE TREES

It didn't take long before they realized what had happened after they had their first bite.  " I'm naked, I don't want anyone especially God to see me like this. He may condemn, criticize or judge me." Those were probably the thoughts of Adam and his wife after they disobeyed God by eating the forbidden fruit.  Upon realization of their nakedness, their instinct quickly suggested they sew fig leaves together to cover themselves up. And as if that wasn't enough, they hid themselves behind the trees in fear and hunger for security, hoping the trunk of the trees and leaves would give the proper covering they wanted.  "...and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden." (Genesis 3:8). In that state of guilt, many are like Adam and Eve. They hide behind trees as a result of their nakedness well known to them. Now, let's look at the significance of NAKEDNESS and TREES . NAKEDNESS in th...

SHUT THAT WINDOW

There are reasons the windows of your house is meant to be shut, even if not completely. There should be limited access into the house. It helps prevent unwanted things from creeping into the house. In as much as the window was created to allow the reflection of the brightness of the day into the house and for ventilation, it must be closed to an extent, to avoid insects and unwanted substances intruding the house. In this context however, the windows that needs to be shut are the windows that leads to your heart. Your heart (physically and spiritually) are as important as the air you breathe, because the heart is the seat of core activities that keeps you alive and also moulds your life. Physically, your heart is the muscle at the centre of your circulation system. It pumps blood around your body as your heart beats. This blood sends oxygen and nutrients to all parts of your body, and carries away unwanted carbon dioxide and waste products. Literally speaking, you can'...

WHOSE OPINION DO YOU FOLLOW?

There are many individuals who are easily swayed by the opinion of others. These individuals under such category set the opinion of others as a yardstick for making decisions and moulden their judgements about things in their lives.  If you are an individual that is easily moved by what others think, say or perceive as a standard for something, then you're likely to make certain mistakes in life. You'll either go against yourself, convictions, or principles or you go against that of Christ (as a Christian). We are meant to hold strong the precepts and principles of God's word. We are supposed to be mindful of what Christ thinks and what's best and right not what others think. When people air their views, stance or perception about something or about you, it shouldn't formulate wrong thoughts about yourself or the situation.   Just because someone, probably a friend, relative or someone close to you says something not pleasant about you, you then feel dej...
