SHUT THAT WINDOW

There are reasons the windows of your house is meant to be shut, even if not completely. There should be limited access into the house. It helps prevent unwanted things from creeping into the house.

In as much as the window was created to allow the reflection of the brightness of the day into the house and for ventilation, it must be closed to an extent, to avoid insects and unwanted substances intruding the house.

In this context however, the windows that needs to be shut are the windows that leads to your heart.

Your heart (physically and spiritually) are as important as the air you breathe, because the heart is the seat of core activities that keeps you alive and also moulds your life.

Physically, your heart is the muscle at the centre of your circulation system. It pumps blood around your body as your heart beats. This blood sends oxygen and nutrients to all parts of your body, and carries away unwanted carbon dioxide and waste products. Literally speaking, you can't live without your heart carrying out these primary functions. A stop to your heart typically signifies death.

Spiritually, the heart is referred as the epic center of the activities of the man. And it determines the actions and decisions a man makes on a day to day basis.
Proverbs 23:7 reveals, "For as a man think in his heart, so is he."

What does that tell you?

The state of the heart is a determinant factor of who a person is. So if you want to know the state of a man's heart, look at his lifestyle, watch his actions and his decisions. That is why the same book of Proverbs says, "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life." (Proverbs 4:23).

You have a responsibility to keep and guard the one part of you that determines YOU; your decisions, lifestyle, even down to what you say. (For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks - Luke 6:45).

Where am I going with this?

I'm establishing how important the heart is so you'll know why the windows of your heart should be shut, because the opening of the entrance (windows) can attract intruders into your heart if not properly guarded.

What are the windows then?

Your EYES and your EARS!

Your eyes and ears are definite entrances to your heart. The world is full of activities, trends, sights, that are very unhealthy for our hearts and can destroy our lives entirely if given attention.

A person who isn't exposed to sexual activities can have his/her life soaked in sexual sins because of the exposure of his/her heart to it through what he sees or watch, and the type of things and music he listens to.

A pure heart can be corrupted by just a movie filled with romantic or sexual scenes. Avoid letting these unholy sights stain you. Purity demands you look away from these unholy things. Purity demands that you be extremely selective with what you feed your heart - through your eyes and ears.

Not all music is good for you (music that promotes immorality, the devil or vices).
Not all discussions and conversations should survive around you. If it's not in your control or power to end it, you have legs to leave that environment.

What about the movies you watch, the magazine, your feeds on social media? As a child of God who desires to lead a pure life, you must be intentional about what news feed you permit, by working on your friends' list and the pages, videos or posts you click your way into.
You should be mindful of the sites you visit on the internet.

Your ears and eyes should posses an unseen filter to sift out trash and trap in the valuables. This will help you real good.

This was a counsel given to me back then. I used to be the kind to believe and accept whatever someone says about me especially if that person is close to me.

I was susceptible to words and it badly affected my self esteem and worth but gradually I began to learn to sift out the negative words and work with the ones that will help me. I decided to be mindful of what I let into my mind so it doesn't destroy and limit me from all God wants to do in and through me.

Shutting the window and being highly conscious of what you let in your heart is not just for sexual sins; you have your self worth and esteem to protect. You don't take in lies society, peers, friends, parents or anyone at all says about you as far as it doesn't correlate with what God is saying about you.

Go for the Word of God. Believe it. Feed on it. It's a powerful tool and cleanser. The Word of God is what keeps the heart neat and in check on a daily.

Hope this blessed you?

Shalom!

HOW POSSIBLE IS PURITY IN A PERVERSE WORLD?

We live in a world where premarital sex, lust, and diverse sexual vices are thrown at us on the face. Sensual pictures, movies and music that promotes and instigates pornography, masturbation, lesbianism, homosexuality, adultery, rape, lust, etc are rampant, virtually everywhere. It takes advance discipline and utmost reverend for God to be able to resist it. When you access the internet, its there. When you read through some magazines, its there. What about the television compiled with various TV channels with different commercials, ads, movies, operas, shows, etc, it is in its abundance.  These days, almost everything we view promotes lust. Even ads; mere ads. Those that value their christian faith and purity can't even watch television in peace. You'll have to keep changing and switching channels to guide your eyes against scenes that defiles the mind. Even the streets are cluttered with immodestly dressed women and men. They are on every sidewalk and every corne...

HE WAITS FOR IT

I love that feeling I get when a person who seeks my downfall gets so disappointed as a result of his planned scheme against me being totally frustrated. I really do love it. It communicates that I can't be touched, harmed or disadvantaged by the enemy. It makes the fact about God being with me evident to me. I'm certain Jesus had that satisfactory feeling when He overcame the temptations the devil brought His way during His retreat in the wilderness. Imagine being highly tempted three times around the same time and all temptations are in sync with the desires of the flesh. However, Jesus overcame him with a simple tactics..." by the words of their testimony" ( Revelation   12:11).  Until tomorrow, this strategy is most relevant for overcoming any hurdle, challenge or temptation. How does this correlate with today's article; HE WAITS FOR IT? Luke speaks of a reality Jesus experienced and every Christian equally experiences.   See this: "Now when t...

AN EYE FOR AN EYE

An eye for an eye is no new idiom. You must have heard of it or use it yourself. Either way, that idiom is something a child of God should never use but apply a different approach to it. An eye for an eye is a language used by those who seek justice (a repay) of wrong(s) or evil done to him or her. But in as much as justice is good and in many cases approved even in scriptures, same scripture gave room for mercy and forgiveness.  Unfortunately, many christians take laws into their hands by "wanting their offenders eye for the eye taken from them". They want to equivalently retaliate for the pain, backstab, hate, gossip or any sort of evil done to them in other to satisfy that hurt. But this is contrary to what Jesus preached. Jesus taught two vital measures you should take for any wrong or mischief done against you.  Before i talk on these two keys, I'd love to reveal what the Holyspirit personally taught me from the book of Ephesians on this subject of reveng...

A GEN Z PROBLEM

You don't have to be surprised by today's blog title. I can assure you that there are challenges this generation are faced with that the previous generations didn't experience.  Just stay with me on this ride. In case you don't know what Gen Z is, GEN Z (Generation Z) is a term refered to individuals born between 1997 and 2012. It isn't really a professional term used to identify those born in those years but it was coined by few individuals. However, it's use gained wide spread around 2010 to 2015 particularly amongst marketers/advertizers, media outlets, researchers and youngsters especially in social media world. I said something about the previous generation known as the millennials (those born between 1981 to 1996) who didn't really face the problems of the 'Gen Z's. "What could it be? "  Simple, SOCIAL MEDIA PRESSURE. Prior to the 21st century (2000's), it is recorded that the world was already digitalized but the soci...

GOD IS COMMITTED TO YOUR SAFETY: An Experience

Last Sunday's service sparked in my memory an experience I had with a cultist few months back. The sermon, "THE HOLY SPIRIT AND HIS ANGELS OF PROSPERITY" by my mentor, Pastor Victor Akah cemented my belief in God's total protection, the ministry of His angels and the consciousness of their presence in my life. However, I want to show you by the spirit and my experience that God never fails to protect and deliver those who are His.  It was on a Saturday evening. The weather; beautiful, fit for evangelism. I walked a distance then followed a shortcut that would make my journey to the church hall easier before setting out for evangelism with brethren. It was round 4:30 pm.  As I walked into the street, getting closer to its end as to reach the express road, I heard a man whistle at me, " Hello, fine girl, stop". I thought it was just one of those guys by the road side that have nothing to tell a young girl but to ask for her name and number, so I ig...
