There's something I've noticed severally, recently even.
When the enemy wants to destroy a person or a destiny, he first steals that person's focus by bringing distractions his path.
That distraction comes in various ways. He uses people (especially those close people) as distraction. He uses challenges and hardships, reinforced pains and traumas, insensitivity to sin, self-condemnation, etc.
Focus is so important to every human being living because focus keeps you engaged in that one thing you're to do in a world where there's a lot fighting for your attention...i mean a whole lot.
Only those who knows what matters to them in life maintains that focus.
However, to remain on course and to discern if you've taken a different trajectory, you need to have quiet time, sit and ask yourself some relevant questions like:
"Have I missed it?"
"Where did I miss it?"
"What caused me to go off track?"
"What factors are involved?"
"What has damaged so far as a result of my loss of focus?"
"What resolve must i take to be back on track?
Through a recent occurrence in my life, i discovered that a person's life can be under attack once he/her gaze is shifted. The noise of life that gets magnified in the mind which is usually sponsored by the enemy gives rise to that. Once you're finally captured, the enemy keeps you in it until you go deeper and deeper into misery.
This scripture keeps reinforcing in me when i think about this subject:
[2] "looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."
Hebrews 12:2 NKJV
The understanding i got from this scripture is, if we keep LOOKING, we will not cease to persist. When we keep LOOKING, we'll endure the hardness and challenges when they strike us. As a matter of fact, when we keep LOOKING, the enemy cannot easily distract us. We will always be strengthened because we're LOOKING at the One who overcame. As we keep looking, we're reassured of the reward (expectations) that awaits at the end just as in the case of Jesus. He endured the cross because He knew of the coming glory.
There's a whole lot of reasons we should fix our gaze on something. And it's important to note that you can't focus on two things at the same time else you'll be unstable and confused. That's why what you focus on matters a lot.
Many focus on their problems; the debts, family's welfare, the doctor's report, the landlord threats, the lack of funds, failed businesses, the filed lawsuit or court case, and all hopeless situations.
Others focus on a fellow human for help; an influential man/woman, a rich relative, or a long made promise.
Some even focus on themselves. They focus on their knowledge, wisdom, efforts, strength, abilities, qualifications, ideas, etc.
I'll tell you again and again that all are just futility. They have only but a limited extent they can cover.
A human can disappoint you without looking back, sometimes not intentional. It's just a default system in man to disappoint.
Your own strength, expertise, knowledge or qualifications can fail you cause even scripture says by strength shall no man prevail. (1 Samuel 2:9).
Then how about focusing on your own problems?
It will sap from you emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and even healthy wise. Have you ever think about a problem to the extent of losing your mind and experiencing deterioration in health?
See why having these as your focus can be really detrimental? It all have side effects on you.
Did i even forget to mention how people make money and material things their focus?
They think it's always about making and having the money. Yes, money answers to many things but surely it doesn't fight spirits behind life's problems. It doesn't secure a sense of fulfilment in a person's heart. It doesn't fill some emptiness that lies within. It doesn't give salvation, the peace Christ gives, inner fulfilment from purposeful living.
I believe so much in attracting money than chasing it. I have Jesus and His business to chase which is priority. Having Him alone guarantees the prosperous life.
And that's why He should be your Gaze( focus), my Gaze, our Gaze in life.
Jesus is the only One who fits in that position.
You know why?
Because He doesn't fail like man does.
He's not limited like our strengths and abilities.
He's all-knowing and the 'all-remedy' unlike money and material things.
Engaging Him daily brings maximum satisfaction.
Doing what He instructs brings fulfilment and the list goes on.
When Jesus is your gaze, you will ALWAYS navigate through life's challenges while He keeps you strong and makes you stronger through it. You'll be at peace admist the storm. The disciples in the boat looked at the storm and were scared to their bones despite Jesus on the boat with them. Imagine if they had the understanding and faith in who was with them.
They would have calmed the storm even without waking Jesus. Jesus had the understanding of who He is and who is with Him so He slept like a baby in the raging tempest.
That's exactly how Jesus wants us to be in the midst of the storms of life. He wants us peaceful and bold in His Word to confront those challenges.
Many of us believe but there's no understanding. That's why we are played around by the devil. I pray the Holy Spirit helps us.
Beloved, you are not alone in this. Jesus is with you on your boat of life. Keep LOOKING to Him with the understanding of what His presence can do, the victory He has established for you and what He is saying concerning you and you're good to go.
Never lose sight of Him or let anything create a fog that keeps Him out of sight only to see the problems or distractions around you.
And if you haven't known Christ, you're still susceptible to the world's crisis. Jesus is the only one that can help you. Come to him now by giving your life to Jesus and making him your lord and savior.
God bless you!
God bless you for the words.
