Would you agree with me that continuous and instant pleasure is doing you more harm than good?
Would you accept that your comfort zone is actually a zone meant to restrict substantial progress in your life?
Just patiently read through this article to catch the palpable insight.
I call this article HEALTHY PAIN for a reason. You know, when we hear the word pain, we look for ways to skip it because it interprets an unpleasant and 'not-so' soothing feeling to us.
Nevertheless, the pain which I'm speaking of is the pain that brings out gold of potentials, diamonds of solutions in form of ideas and inventions.
Whatever that's so valuable will cost you a whole lot which endorse pain. Either through discipline of denying yourself pleasure or sacrificing what you should be enjoying now (present gratification).
Say success in any endeavor, wealth, fame/power, even the anointing; literally everything good in life has a price attached.
To be a successful person in your endeavor of specialty, you have to make sacrifices, have sleepless nights, soak yourself in studying and in developing yourself, even deny yourself some pleasures your contemporaries are presently enjoying in order to get what you want.
Nothing in life comes cheap. Even Jesus says you have to deny yourself daily to successfully follow Him. (Luke 9:23)
There's always a price tag attached to good things of life. Even the good things of life (e.g. luxury) gotten through wrong means have to be gotten through pain.
A scammer, internet fraudster or robber needs to stay up all night strategizing and implementing their moves to get what they want. Some even take risks.
These kind of people pass through their own fair share of pain in the "acquiring" journey.
So, too much comfort will take you nowhere but through the street of complacency and dead end of an unfulfilled life of which the aftermath effect is regrets.
Instant gratification, on the other hand will leave you with nothing but foolishness, misery and poverty in the future. Why? That's because you're only after the "now" and don't think of tomorrow.
Here's a quote I read from a motivational speaker and writer called Jim Rohn. It reads thus: "we must all suffer one of two pains: pains of discipline or pain of regret. The difference is discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons.
It's clear. You suffer the pain of regret more than the pain of discipline. Therefore, choose.
Becoming a successful student, business/career person, minister of the gospel, musician, artist, writer, entrepreneur, or whatever your field of endeavor may be, you have to strain yourself beyond the norm. To be excellent in your expertise or purpose pursuit, you have to go beyond the average; the normal modulus of operation in your course of action.
You have to make up your mind to pay the price for the task no matter the pain because that's what get you there not by mere wishes.
Furthermore, activities that scare or challenge you to wake up and act propels growth and development. Healthy pain toughens and brings out the very beauty of your potentials.
The Bible says, “He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; He will purify … and refine them like gold and silver.” (Proverbs 17:3). And that's exactly what God intends when He allows trials to enter your life.
Well, that's out of context but just understand that.
Finally, I'll leave you with this quote: "Where training and discipline are concerned, short-term pain means long-term gain. (Myles Munroe).
Stay blessed.
